The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the withdrawal of the list of recommended candidates for admission sent to tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The JAMB Head of Media Dr Fabian Benjamin
explained that the list
was withdrawn to enable the Senate of the
respective institutions perform the statutory responsibility of
conducting the selection of candidates and refer it to JAMB.
The admission lists were withdrawn to
enable the institutions confirm the admission in line with the criteria
of merit, catchment area and educationally disadvantaged states, as
directed by the Minister of Education at the policy committee meeting.
“The earlier list was sent to help fast
track the process of admission so as to allow other tiers of
institutions also conduct their admission,” he said.
JAMB’s head of media expressed regret
over any inconvenience the withdrawal decision would have caused the
tertiary institutions.
