Teen dies in mum's arms after battle with aggressive childhood cancer
A girl has been described as "amazing" after she lost her battle with an aggressive form of childhood cancer at the age of 13.
Helena Green, from Liverpool, was diagnosed with the disease in her kidney in December 2013 when she was just 11.
After 11 months of gruelling treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, she was given the all-clear and was able to start secondary school.
But last September doctors discovered she had a tumour in her hip and, sadly she passed away in the arms of her mum Stacey on Sunday.
She told the Liverpool Echo: “They thought she wouldn’t be here at Christmas and we knew that she wasn’t going to get better but she kept fighting and fighting.
“A couple of weeks ago they thought she only had a couple of days left but then she was sitting up in bed – she was just amazing.
“She was the most selfless person. She was asking us all to bring KFC and we’ve got a really large family, so she’d be going through the phone book!
“Everyone would be going to get it for her and she’d say ‘Can you get my dad one, because he’s too shy to ask?’ She’d make sure her mum and dad were looked after.
